This service allows foreign media (Rwandan correspondents, EAC journalists, and foreign journalists) to apply and pay for accreditation in order to exercise their profession of journalism in Rwanda.
This service is provided by the Rwanda Media Commission (RMC) through IremboGov.
Who is eligible to apply for this service?
Rwandan correspondents,
EAC journalists and
Foreign journalists.
Key information before applying
Rwandan correspondents should have a national ID number, while foreign journalists should have a valid passport number.
Required attachments are;
A passport-size photo
A photocopy of a press card or service card,
Application letter from a media house
Note: All attachments must be in JPG format and no larger than 1000KB.
Applicants should have a valid phone number, email address, or both.
Service processing time and fees
Follow these simple steps to apply for media accreditation:
Visit new.irembo.gov.rw. Log in to the IremboGov platform.
If you don’t have an account, click here to learn how to create one.
Under Media, select Accreditation for Foreign Media.
Then click on Apply to start the application
Carefully read the Guidelines for Filming the Genocide Against the Tutsi in Rwanda Memorial Sites, check the box to agree, and click Continue to proceed. The application can NOT continue unless you agree to these terms.
Fill in the Applicant Details and contact details. The applicant’s details will be retrieved and displayed.
Enter company details as prompted, and carefully add them.
Fill in the required project details.
Enter the details of the address and contact person in Rwanda.
Fill in the Previous Work details
attach the required documents in the right format and size. Click continue to proceed.
Verify that the information is true, enter a phone number and/or email address, check the verification box, and click Submit.
A billing number/ID (88…) will be generated. Click pay.
Applicants choose the mode of payment. For more information about payment modes, click here.
Next Steps after Submitting Your Application
After applying and paying successfully via IremboGov, you will receive a notification via SMS and/or email to confirm the payment.
Your application will then be sent to the Rwanda Media Commission for processing.
Once reviewed and approved by a Rwanda Media Commission officer, your e-Accreditation badge will be sent to you via email.
