To help you better understand media accreditation for foreign media applications, here are some of the most common questions and their answers:


1. Who is eligible to apply for media accreditation for foreign media?

Eligible applicants include 

  • Rwandan correspondents, 

  • EAC journalists and 

  • other foreign journalists.


2. Which institution provides this service?

This service is provided by the Rwanda Media Commission (RMC).


3. What are the required attachments for the application?


Applicants must attach:


  • A passport-size photo

  • A photocopy of a press card or service card

  • An application letter from a media house


4. What are the accepted formats and sizes for attachments?

All attachments must be in JPG format and not larger than 1000KB.


5. What identification is required to apply?


  • Rwandan correspondents must have a national ID number.

  • Foreign journalists must have a valid passport number.


6. How long does it take to process the application? 

The processing time is 3 days.

7. How much does it cost to apply for media accreditation?

The price depends on the following conditions:

  • Rwandan correspondents of foreign media & EAC journalists pay $30 

  • Other foreign journalists pay $100


8. What happens after I submit and pay for my application via IremboGov

You will receive an SMS and/or email notification confirming your payment. Your application will then be sent to the Rwanda Media Commission for review and approval within 3 days.


9. How will I receive my accreditation badge?

Once your application is approved by the Rwanda Media Commission, your e-Accreditation badge will be sent to you via email.


10. What should I do if my application has taken more than 3 days to be processed?

If your application is delayed, contact our support team at  9099 or email support@irembo.com for assistance.


11. Do I need to create an IremboGov account to apply?

Yes. Applicants must have an IremboGov account to access and submit the Media Accreditation for Foreign Media service. Click here to learn how to create one.
